![]() I'll either post another comment or edit this one to include my findings with it. It's the pure fact those areas has been optimized for such a thing. I agree with the fact on areas with a dedicated infrastructure like the US and Japan that WTFast will not work. I understand this is four years old but I'm sure other people have come across this thread. But IMO some insights of the technical aspects behind are needed for you to make your decision based on your situation ( your country, ISP quality, geographical location etc ) I have subscribed to WTF premium at early 2015, and I was quite disappointed. At most WTF might provide better connections within the US border, the last route from New York data center to the Midwest, for example. So, in my case, having to connect to USA, which is geographically on the other side of the planet, even using WTF, my connection quality wouldn't see a big improvement. I personally live in Hong Kong, which contains lots of data centers having direct route to literally countries all around the world, at least the big boys, and the infrastructure and ISP are very stable and reliable. But if the WTF company has a data center in India which has under-ocean cable connecting to South Africa and Japan, your ping could literally cut by HALF. ![]() Let say u live in South Africa and want to play on a Japan server, you would probably first connect to USA then to Japan, and you could imagine how high the ping could go up to. The company may also invest in physical data centers which provides physical wired connection between those big boy countries mentioned above and certain relatively not developed area in the world to hop users living there to a "high way" more quickly, compared to needing to rely on nearby countries to route country by country. The company would purchase a certain bandwidth of cables from ISP or those who own the internet cables around the world, to build a garunteed, disturbance-free network of connections. Also AFAIK Valve has good placement of servers around the globe.īecause this software, in simple words, work by providing a dedicated private route of Internet connection. ![]() ![]() TLDR: Are you living in a country with solid information communication infrastructure like USA, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan? Because if so, you probably won't be needing this software.
